SD Card Corruption

SD Card Corruption
Greetings:
My spouse and I have been using CPAPS for years: me-11, she-30.  A year ago a friend told me about Sleepyhead and I used it first to read my data. Neat program, runs effortlessly.  Next I pulled SD chip from my wife's data. Not. Disk corrupted.  DeVilbiss even gave me a new data retrieval unit. Still spat corrupted data. Then Mid-Dec, she received her new ResMed Airsense-10.  Checked data first morning, fine; data recorded perfectly.  Next and successive mornings could not read in SH. Win10 said: "please insert SD" ... SD chip corrupted.  I even downloaded manufacturer's software with same "no data" result.

Then last week I read a webpage from ResMed saying its data transmission from CPAP to SD was very slow, and could take up to 2-2.5 min.  VOILA! An epiphany!  Wife has not, for some reason, ever thought it is safe to leave electrical devices plugged into wall sockets when not in use, so each morning, she pulled the 110-V cable out of wall immediately on awakening.  The fact that these two events could be connected never wiggled even one neuron in my brain.  After reading ResMed's page, I see this was obviously the issue. There never was nor is now any problem with either unit. Interrupting data transfer was the only issue, and all that did was mess the file structure on the SD.

Next, I inserted her SD and scrolled to "erase."  Cleaned the SD card. Since then, it has performed flawlessly! Electrical problem was explained to wife; end of problem. VOILA! :-)  The ResMed stored all the summary data since 16 Dec, and has all the new detail data since Jan 1.

We are in business!

My question to others is simply this: Are we the only CPAP users in the world that did not understand this issue?

None of the Sleep Specialists we have dealt with from 2 MAJOR durable medical suppliers, since the time my wife first received a unit with SD capability, ever warned us of that issue!

Thanks,
JO

RE: SD Card Corruption
Jo, I think your wife must be unusually sprightly in the mornings. There's no way I could wake up and get to the power point quick enough to interrupt the data! Smile
