(04-17-2016, 07:20 PM)justMongo Wrote: Varies by country and purpose. The requirement is almost always compliant for 70% of the days in a month. Compliant for the day means "4 hours" of CPAP usage. Sometimes, the standard numbers vary a bit, but it's rare. i.e. might not be 70%, might not be 4 hours. Sometimes you have to be "compliant" for 70% of any 30 day period within a 90 day window. Might be 70% of the first 30 days. The machine may not count the time when you have a large leak. They try to check whether you're actually wearing the mask, or just turned it on to cheat the numbers, and think a large leak is you not using the machine. Pee breaks don't count. Wearing the machine while napping or when watching TV, reading, etc. DO count. I sometimes wonder id some truckers get a DC adapter and wear the machine while driving in order to meet their numbers. The "day" is usually noon to noon. This can screw you if you're night sleepers or the clock is wrong on the CPAP machine. DME's are often idiots, liars, and don't care, and may mess up the compliance check or not understand the numbers. DME's almost never get the details right when you ask them.
Get the free OSCAR CPAP software here.
Useful links. Click here for information on the main alternative to CPAP. If it's midnight and a DME tells you it's dark outside, go and check it yourself. |
