I'm sorry. I swore.
No link.  I left the site as fast as I could.

We wear this crap equipment about 8 hours a night.  Why haven't they figured out comfort yet?

RE: Sleep Quality
They think they have, they use it for a couple of nights and think it is good.
It is not the same when you use anything for 6 to 8 hrs every night 365 days of the year.

I don't know how people can put up with MAD devices and some other things they think one can put on every night and it still be comfortable.
I am NOT a doctor.  I try to help, but do not take what I say as medical advice.

RE: Sleep Quality
I just had my sleep study. It's 10 years since my last one. I have a new sleep doc, who I haven't met yet. I was led to him by referral.
I've been compliant for over 25 years. YES I have OSA. It was 45 stops in an hour that many years ago. I'm much heavier, and it's likely worse.

I talked to the sleep tech. Typical Ontario Canada guy. I told him that I wanted to know about treatments for sleep apnea. He told me I didn't need to know. He would do everything. My sleep study would confirm that mask I need, and the pressure. I will get a prescription for a mask, and a prescription for pressure.

Status quo. My old sleep doc---almost 15 years was the same. Long as I use a machine and a mask it's ok. index 5 or less. Wear time 4 hours or more.

Participation here in the forum is mind blowing, and so helpful. There's so much knowledge available, and it's so freely shared.

I learn how to detect issues and solve them.

Thanks

RE: Sleep Quality
sorry for the rant; it's a different world here. Every province in Canada is different. I would have fewer restrictions and better treatment if I lived in British Columbia rather than Ontario.

I am so much better off because of all of you here in the forum, and youre all so helpful.

RE: Sleep Quality
Point is, none of my sleep doctors has ever voiced concern about sleep quality.

It's so hard to maintain compliance. Thing go bad over time, and then I Idon't feel so rested.

I wear a nasal mask attached to my cpap and humidifier.  I use a chin strap or a pad under my chin to prevent my mouth from opening while I am using CPAP. I've tried many full face masks, and I've never found one that I could wear as long, and without it leaking. (Last attempt was a ResMed F20 on trial.  It leaked horribly and my AHI went through the roof. I've tried at least 8 full face masks.

I typically sleep 7-8 hours.  I wear my mask the whole time.  AHI is always below .5 I replace my mask every 6 months or so. I have a humidier and a heated hose. Mask is a ResMed N20.  Machine is a ResMed S9 Elite that I bought used. It's been checked to make sure it is set at my old pressure.  11

It's more or less the same wherever you go - just slight variations and level of struggle. Luckily, we have this forum to help each other.

Forget professional ethics - it all comes down to money - like with your former sleep specialist who forgot the Hippocrates Oath that should be sacred to all physicians: to treat the ill to the best of one's ability, to preserve a patient's privacy, to care adequately for the sick, and that warmth, sympathy, and understanding may outweigh the surgeon's knife or the chemist's drug.

Hmm maybe it causes repeat mask customers; we're constantly getting in line to buy the latest and greatest mask that hits the market. If they sell us the perfect mask, you just have repeat supply customers. IMO only. Coffee  Eat-popcorn

OK, does he think your mask and machine are comfortable? If he does EVERYTHING, he's doing your therapy time too.
Not making fun of you at all, but the doc has gone a little Ducky on you there. We know ducks go Quack. Coffee

I wondered how you could see with that thing on? It didn't look easy to wear.

For several years I used a cpap cap with my nasal mask or nasal pillows.  the cpap mask did a good job of keeping my mouth closed preventing mouth breathing. All this gear was hard to wear.

I find masks don't last like they used to.

I've been doing this a long time.
