Time for new machine

Time for new machine
So I finally got around to calling my DME (Blue Ridge Home Health Care). I've not gotten any supplies or whatever from them in quite some time. I hate calling the supply line as Bless His Heart Ron never gets it right.

Anyway, I called their main line Monday. Lady said she'd have to look it up as to when I got this last machine. She finally called me back today. It has been seven years so yeah, I'm due for one. My S9 Escape was replaced by an Autoset I got from SecondWind (Supplier #2). I told her the Autoset was possessed by a demon and making a lot of noise.

That's when she shocked me. They no longer sell the bricks. They sell data capable Autosets. Data. Capable. After some conversation (where she called me 'honey' about umpteen times), it seems they were being asked a lot for loaner Autosets so folks can self-titrate. Users were stuck with bricks but could not afford a sleep study and/or insurance wouldn't pay for one. And folks are doing it on their own. As in self-treat without a sleep doc after the initial sleep study and diagnosis. So a data capable machine was crucial in this changing market.

I was all prepared to fight for what I need. While I am glad I don't have to (allegedly), I did check the caller ID again to make sure the right company had called. This place was all about placating the docs, not the patients. Now they are about the patients. Wonder what changed?

Anyway, I will stick with the ResMed brand and get an A10 Autoset for Her. Not that I care it is for women, I want the extra data it provides.

Take a deep breath and count to zen.

I don't know if it matters to you. But I just got a new Air Sense and it has all the data included now. Same as the For Her machine. It does lack the extra setting though.

That's good you're getting a new machine. Guess things can actually change for the good after a few years, even some DME's. Or it really was a wrong number.

Paula,
Good for you!  I hope that when the time comes for my machine to be replaced that my DME becomes as progressive as your is.  Anything’s possible, right?

I haven’t ordered supplies from my DME for awhile either, because for one, they never get my order right and two, they stopped selling ResMed products.   Oh-jeez

Anyway, happy to hear you will get a new data capable machine without doing battle. Smile

You are going to be real happy with the airsense 10.  I also have the for her version and tried it for a while . For me it didn't respond fast enough so I am using the regular autoset algorithm.  Try it first and see how it works for you.  The good thing is that it comes with 3 different modes.
Good luck and let us know how you make out.

Good machines and very quiet.

I think you will like it.
Ron will like how quiet it is, though he might wonder if you are still breathing in the beginning as it is so quite.
