Sleep test results and Dr's Rx finally done

RE: Sleep test results and Dr's Rx finally done
Tell me about DME's... I rate them right up there with politicians... This has been a real eye opener for me, I feel sorry for people who just blindly walk into the DME world. I learned a lot when my mother had physical troubles, and we needed equipment. Because she had the means, we ended up purchasing most things outright rather than accept the crap that was delivered. I truly believe that getting the best equipment for her, that she liked, contributed much to her last few years. Now it is MY turn. This may take some time, and not a little amount of perseverance, but I am up to it. I will have to live with these choices for a long time, and in the end, for the rest of my life. The last thing I am willing to accept is a brick of a machine I have to keep for 5 years. So thank you to all who contribute to this board for making it a bit easier for someone new to navigate all this

P.S. Sleepyhead downloaded and waiting for my machine, Thanks for the heads up on getting my own information to manage my treatment

Smile gently and say the summary report will do just fine, thanks. Get a copy of your prescription. Get a copy of the "certification/certificate of need" from the DME. File all this away somewhere safe. Masks and machines need that prescription or certificate of need before you can purchase.

Paula, I need education (not re-education so not Hammer ). What the heck is a certificate of need? Who originates it? What does it need for back-up? Who sees them?

Thanks,

certificate of need sounds like the medical necessity letter here in the states or at least on the west coast. Doctor writes it and it is for insurance, usually provided to them by the DME.

Found this is glossary of terms/wiki

Letter of Medical Necessity (LMN) - Special document that is a certification by a physician that the prescribed item(s) is medically indicated, reasonable and necessary with reference to the standards of medical practice and treatment of the patient's condition.

I get it. LMN-that's Lifetime Movie Network. Big Grin Grin

Medical necessity I understand and you are probably right that a certificate of need is the same as a certificate or letter of medical necessity.

Thanks for straightening this out for me.

I had no idea what it meant either. I was looking for something else and came across it. Eat-popcorn
