I also thought it might be too hard, but I found that because I can easily conform it to support my head and neck the way I like it best, the buckwheat pillow does not feel hard at all.  I love mine.

Thanks for the info. I may try it. I've been through so many pillows. Last one I bought was specially for CPAP, multiple layers of foam to allow me to choose the height. I tried using it several times but felt that I was lying on a block of stone...

Benzi, I use a very good quality down (not feather) pillow with a medium 600 fill power. It's expensive, but it is supportive, soft and pliable. On my side I can tuck a corner between my jaw and shoulder, and on my back it does not cause chin tucking. I have not had problems with the mask. If you can afford the $70 to $140 or so that these cost.
