Sleepyhead problem

Sleepyhead problem
Hoping one of you can help me out here.
I'll give you a rundown of how I do it, to paint a complete picture.

I import my data into sleepyhead every day so I can check my data from the night before, but last night something stupid happened.
I would normally put the card back in the machine each night just before I go to sleep.

I copy the latest folder to my PC (mainly for backup purposes) and then import the data from there. I immediately  noticed something strange, as the folder name I was expecting was yesterdays date, but it was actually todays.

So when I did that today, it overwrote yesterdays data so there was nothing there now, and gave me a summary of today's for only 2hrs, from 12pm to 2pm. I went to sleep late last night around 5am and woke up at 2pm.
I went back and reimported from the data card directly, and now it gives the entire night from last night for yesterday, and the same 2hour session for today, so I have actually lost yesterdays info.
Trying to get my head around what happened, and what happened to my data and how to get it back, and most importantly understand what happened so I can make sure nothing like this happens again . I keep my data on a nas server and keep a if files were overwritten, I should still have a copy if it, but I can't find it.
I see in the preferences and with a bit of googling, that resmed machines split data from 12pm to 12pm each day, so that kinda makes sense about it reporting a 2hour session for today, but what happened to my data from yesterday.
I would have went to sleep about 3am yesterday(technically 3am Monday) to about 10am.
And last night I would have went to sleep about 5am this morning to about 2pm today.
I never go to sleep before midnight each night, so this might have something to do with it, but I don't know. Typically for example, the folder 20190115 has files files named 20190116xxx.

So what I can kinda work out is that it just overwrote yesterdays data seeing it as todays. (any chance I can get back yesterdays data?)

I don't have a folder named yesterdays date as I would have expected for today, instead the data was todays date with the 2hr session.
When I imported from the card directly, it did have yesterdays date but with the data for last night.
Should I be putting the card back in the machine straight after importing the data? Thats the only thing I can think of, but how do I know it won't overwrite data again in the future?
It's kinda confusing, but I hope I have explained it so you can understand.
Now, WTH is going on haha Dont-know
