Sleepyhead vs. ResScan Software
Newbie Question,
Is the forum split evenly on both software as to which one they like over the other. At a quick glance Sleepyhead seems to me to offer more information. I do have another question also is I noticed Sleepyhead has used 90% vs 95% as one of the values some times it appeared to also use Median vs. Average between the two software programs.
Please let me know about the differences and why if anyone knows. Sorry for not doing my homework to search this topic on the forum first as it may have been answered a 1000 times before, so tell me to do my homework .
RE: Sleepyhead vs. ResScan Software
You can select either average, weighted average or median for your reports in SleepyHead. The percentile in SleepyHead is set to 95 by default but is user adjustable. Some agencies that monitor CPAP compliance may not accept SleepyHead reports because it hasn't been certified. In this case, ResScan will be required.
RE: Sleepyhead vs. ResScan Software
It depends on what you need the report for and on your personal preference. Apparently some doctors / institutions only accept the "official" software which is ResScan. On the other hand I find SleepyHead a whole lot easier to work with.
After a while a lot of the finer points seem less relevant - 90% or 95% doesn't really make a lot of difference. Once you've got your pressures dialled in and AHI well under control you'll probably find that you spend a lot less time with either software.
RE: Sleepyhead vs. ResScan Software
I'm also a newbie... When I had my first follow up with my sleep doctor's medical assistance to review my progress of using my machine for about 6 weeks, I brought my laptop with me, as I have been making daily notes of my sleep experiences in Sleepyhead. From my experience using both software packages, I prefer Sleepyhead - hands down. No comparison. My doctor's assistant had never seen Sleepyhead, and she was blown away with the level of detail and ease of analysis that Sleepyhead provides. I have another follow up next week, and I'll be packing my laptop with me again. The only reason I look at ResScan is to see what my doctor and insurance sees - that's it.
