Spo2 Assistant / Smart device Assistant on Linux

Spo2 Assistant / Smart device Assistant on Linux
Dear all

I tried to import directly the data from my oxymeter Contec CMS50I directly through the import wizard of Oscar.
In an other thread, I got the information that it is not possible at the moment.

So I would like to import the data in two steps, first transfering the data from the oxymeter to my pc, then importing them in Oscar.
I did this from a Windows PC then transfert the files to my Linux PC (Ubunt to be precise).
It works. (eg. I can transfert the data, the oxymeter is ok, the cable is ok...)

Anyway, I would rather do this directly under linux without using windows.
(Note: I don't have acces anymore to the windows pc I used to do so).

So I run SpO2 Assistant through wine.

$ wine64 SpO2_Assistant_V3.0.3_Setup.exe

The installer start,  I can 'install" then run the Spo2 Assistant.

I try the menu
File -> Connect the device

Spo2 assiatnt crash, And tell me this:
Unhandled exception: page fault on read access to 0x000000ca in 32-bit code (0x000000ca).

My question is:
Is wine the right solution to run SpO2 Assistant ?
Shall I use wine32, wine, Wine 64..?
Shall I use something else than Wine?

Shall I install a driver?
(I have not done any driver installation "in wine").

I also tried Smart Device assistant, and same problem, crash when trying to connect the oxymeter.

Regards

RE: Spo2 Assistant on Linux
Let understand this.  You are (were) using SpO2 Assistant and not the newer Smart Device Assistant software?  If so, I would think you have the older firmware on your 50I.  Either way, Wine is a basic Windows interpreter and I haven't been successful in it connecting with any external devices (USB).   The only thing I can think of is to create a virtual Windows system on your Linux box.  The most common virtual server is VirtualBox.  You would create a Windows computer within your Linux system.  The trickiest part of all this is getting your USB to pass through to the virtual machine.  In the past, I was able to download a Windows 10 installer package from Microsoft.  It has been working since.   There is a free and open source implementation of Windows 7 currently in the workings called ReactOS (ReactOS.org).  I have not tried it so other than making you aware that it exists, I know nothing about it.

Just tried running the LIVE version on a HP ProBook 4730s. There are several versions on the CD but only the Screen version worked a bit for me.
I got USB errors and choose to Ignore. After boot was completed a Windows-like screen appeared. As expected USB didn't worked.  Also shutdown from the menu doesn't work. As it is a 32bit OS, I won't be changing the OS on this old laptop (Win7 64bit SP1). I have not tried to install ReactOS nor dit I try to install it in a VirtualBox on my Ubuntu machine.
