Two sealed Pb-acid batteries in parallel is a non-issue when load currents and charging currents are low.
At high current, a slight mismatch in internal resistance may cause one battery to current hog.
A Battery tender Junior and the draw for a CPAP blower are a low current environment for a 35 Amp-Hr scooter battery.
They can be paralleled -- just use 10 G wire.
Starting batteries can short a cell because their plates are a lead grid with a coating that sheds and falls to the bottom of a flooded Pb-acid battery.
