RE: Still snoring with APAP
I just put this up on another thread, have you used the mask fit function?

For auto-cpap, from machine data or software. You can set the min pressure 1 or 2cm below 95%. Or clinicians commonly use the maximum or 95% pressure for fixed pressure CPAP, this can also be used for min pressure.

RE: Still snoring with APAP
Hi there, thank you for your replies, it is very helpful and I am happy that we ended up sticking to therapy as finally it seems to work. It took us 6 months.

In terms of the minimum pressure the machine allows us to only set it to max 12 and the maximum pressure to 20 so currently it is set 12-20.

Does anyone of you know of ways to increase the minimum pressure by any chance? We would like to try 13-20 but the devise doesn't seem to give us the option to do so.

Thanks a lot in advance.

Press and hold both the ramp button and the control for at least 5 seconds.  This will get you into the provider mode where you can change your minimum pressure.  I wouldn't increase minimum pressure great than 1cm at a time and leave on the new settings for a few days to see how it goes.

In looking at your charts here is what I see. The red pressure line is showing that the low of 12 is a good number. The small spikes in pressure ( red line ) is your machine doing it automatic feature. It looks for an improvement and if none is found it goes back to the base (low) pressure. When it sees something that makes an improvement it may keep raising up the pressure and hold it up for a short time. When the breathing becomes stable again it will return to the low pressure and keep watch over you. It then goes back to checking once in a while to see if it can make an improvement with a small increase in pressure (the little spikes).

If I have this wrong one of the others will jump on fixing the misinformation of offer a better one.

Ask questions, it is how all of us learn.

Thank you very much for your comments which are very helpful. I will be reading the link you sent me and also research on how to properly read the charts.

Now that the snoring issue is much better (Thank you to you all!!) I am struggling with the noise of the devise. I am a very light sleeper and the machine seems to be so noisy. I am already wearing earplugs and sleeping with a fan but I still have difficulties sleeping well as the noise is fairly loud. Is there anything you all would recommend to decrease the sound? Taking out the filter does help but my dh doesn't want to do that as last time he did it he woke up and his nose was very allergic.

I would highly appreciate your advises.

I think it's time you took responsibility and own then as your sleep issues. People live next to train lines and sleep fine. A white noise machine may help you, You will get use to the constant noise of it. To experiment you can use your smartphone to play something off youtube or where you can find a recording of it. You may need to consult a sleep doctor on why you are so easily aroused from sleep and unable to quickly return to sleep.

The noise you are hearing is very likely the breathing coming from the mask area. These machines are actually very, very quiet. You could try putting a towel under the machine to make it quieter still. But I suspect most of the noise is coming from the mask area. It could even be heavy leaks causing the noise. As mentioned above, please ensure to read Bonjour's mask primer below on how to ensure a good fit for the mask. If you have a good fit, the noise should be much diminished.

You could try experimenting with different types of masks perhaps. Like the Airfit F20 if you wanted a full face mask. It is reputed to be fairly quiet. But a chinstrap and an Airfit P10 is my weapon of choice and the P10 nasal pillows mask generates very little noise indeed. It's more like a very quiet white background noise as I am breathing. Certainly not disturbing to my wife.

Hi all,

Thank you for the suggestions. I agree, I would need to consult someone but to be honest I don't have any sleeping issues when the machine is not on. I sleep just fine. It's just the type of the sound. I slept with an airport next to my previous house and had no issues.

I have examined the sound last night and it is not coming from the mask and there are no major leaks at all. The sound comes directly from the machine. It sounds almost like a alarm and it keeps me alert hence I can't relax at all and I get anxious when trying to sleep.

I have placed it on the floor last night with a towel underneath but still no luck unfortunately.

I don't think it has an alarm, did you see the thread about a whistle fault?
