[Symptoms] xlear for the win (sinuses, ears)

xlear for the win (sinuses, ears)
I bought me some "Xlear" nasal spray after doing some reading. It is a saline and xylitol mixture that maybe I can mix myself for significantly cheaper, but I wanted to try the off the shelf product as a control first and see if it did what it says it will...

It has cleared up a lot of the sinus inflammation I have been fighting. It has also unclogged my cloggy left ear and relieved the loud tinnitus I have been fighting since my last airplane ride (although both come back if I don't use the stuff - maybe because it is allergy season and maybe because it has only been about a week) In addition it seems to have gotten rid of the slime from hell I usually wake up with in my mouth, and relieved an all over sicky feeling I was fighting. (I do tend to be constantly fighting low grade sinus infection due to a complete inability to make antibodies to the polysaccharide coat on pneumococcus bacteria (Primary Specific Antibody Deficiency))

Anyway, several folk have commented about stuffy ears, sinuses. Thought I would pass along the info Smile An article I found said that it will prevent ear infections in children, and relieve chronic stuffiness from several causes and without steroids or antibiotics. (although xylitol has been shown to kill pneumococcus, maybe it *is* an antibiotic!)

Tongue Suck Technique for prevention of mouth breathing:
  • Place your tongue behind your front teeth on the roof of your mouth
  • let your tongue fill the space between the upper molars
  • gently suck to form a light vacuum

Practising during the day can help you to keep it at night

DariaVader,
Thanks for the tip on XLear nasal spray. I'm going to try it. I can tell with allergy season starting up, I need to armed and ready! Anything natural is worth trying.
