TINNITUS
I have been on CPAP successfully for a couple of years. Just recently I started getting tinnitus after I wake up that goes away in a little time. I only get it after I wake up from sleeping. My numbers are all good. Any ideas?

RE: TINNITUS
I've had Tinnitus for decades. It's 24/7/365. It's bad, but I've become accustomed to it. Never heard of it being associated with CPAP use though.

I've been told by numerous hearing specialists that there's no cure for it. But, there's a clinic in Phoenix, AZ. that claims otherwise. I'm gonna have to call them one of these days.  Eat-popcorn

Tinnitus is always there but often one is unaware of it. I have had it for a number of years and mostly am only aware of it when I am tired or think about it

I've tinnitus from a bully slap to the ear many years ago. PAP therapy did nothing for or against it.

Can't say for sure, but I'm pretty sure mine is from riding / racing m/c's over the years, w/o using ear plugs. I do now, and have for several years, but the damage is done. My stint in the military was a contributing factor as well I would think.

Even when using a full coverage helmet, the wind noise can be loud.

I'm well aware of my Tinnitus, but like I said prior, I've learned to ignore it.  Cool

Yeah I'm guessing it matters less on the cause but how to handle it if you do get tinnitus. Mine's not at a level to ignore but I've also not gained the how to remedy. I'm thinking some hearing aids may help out, but they're not cheap.

I received a free set of EARGO hearing aids cause I'm a retired federal employee. I'm talking 100% totally free.

I don't use them all that often cause all they do IMHO, is amplify sound, w/o clarifying it. Supposedly, if you have a smartphone, you can apply and use an app to control / adjust them.

I'm not smartphone friendly. No way do I want to be one of those people.  Oh-jeez

I'd take mine if they'd be free. But I'm forced disabled/retired non-gov ex-driver and IT-ish. No problems though I'm richer than most in other countries. Coffee

RE: TINNITUS
I started getting tinnitus about 25 years ago from being around loud machinery all the tiem. Has never gone away and usually gets worse over time. Been on CPAP over a year now and don't notice any difference because of it, Just something I got used to having.

I have almost the same problem as you. Since beginning December, almost every early morning, I wake up with my left ear ringing hard. Sometimes I get up to go to the toilets at 3am and it is not ringing, then I wake up again at 5am and it is ringing! It takes minutes to hours for the ear to go back to normal (I have maybe a remaining little tinnitus). I am on cPAP since 8 years without any trouble until now. I went to an ENT doctor and he did not find anything abnormal (no hearing loss, no wax in the ears, eardrums are ok, etc.). He prescribed me Mometasone (Nasonex) for my nose, but it does not help. I put back my humidifier that I did not use anymore for years, but it seems to not help either. Do you still have the problem? Did you find a solution?

Best regards,
Eric
