I'm just not willing to risk a heart attack because cpap is sometimes uncomfortable. Personally, I think OSA is more dangerous than some people on the forum will admit.
Just my opinion.
I totally agree

RE: Taking a break from CPAP
I am pleasantly surprised by how civil this thread has been so far.
RE: Taking a break from CPAP
That is what I like about this forum: discussion of topics without belittling, attacking, or being rude to each other. There is quite enough of that on the Internet already.

I think that would be more comfortable. I've tried a P10, but having something pushing against my nostrils just makes me uncomfortable.
My main reason for wanting to take a break is because I sometimes take motorcycle trips for a day or two, and space is limited on the bike. Also, having to set it up and take it down, empty the tub, etc is kind of a pain.

I don't have any underlying health issues, so I'm not worried about skipping a day or two for that reason. I originally went to the sleep doc for insomnia, and he did a sleep study and discovered the SA, so he prescribed CPAP. I'm confident it will keep me healthier overall as I age, so it's a keeper. It's just that I would like not to take it with me on the bike for short trips (see other post).
Again, many thanks.

I am relating to this, simply because I ride as well & I don't have a way to carry any extra items, (have to get a NEW bike.. giggling, my hubby will have a fit at the thought) But if you feel fine, and you don't have major issues without the Pap for a night or two, who says you have to have it? Have you tossed the idea at your doc?

I ride a Yamaha FJR and take long distance trips, and have traveled coast to coast several times. Leaving the PAP machine behind is not an option, and not a big deal. I can camp on battery power, and of course it works in any motel.
If you're able to go without the pressure, then life is good. If you can't, you know who you are, and you learn ways to make it work within the lifestyle you enjoy. This is my first year on a Resmed (24 volt) unit, and I have to get it figured out since I'm still monitored for compliance. I actually have a couple Respironics machines (12 volt), and those are pretty easy.
RE: Taking a break from CPAP
I no longer ride as I suck at two wheels. I have the scars to prove it. :roll eyes: If you have no other health issues, and felt OK with out the mask, and it is only for a few days, then personally, I'd go with overall enjoyment of life and take the trip machine free.
Enjoy the open road.
RE: Taking a break from CPAP
My two cents...only you can answer the question if you will be allright without your Cpap for a few days. I personally know that I would "not" be ok.
It may feel like an extra burden to take it along on your cycle, but It can be done. A lot of folk travel with their Cpap.
Good luck, and have a great time on your trip.

The motorcycle is fine if you can sleep okay without it. If you "had" to use it to sleep, you would find a way simply because you had no choice.
the kind of a pain part is well what I was afraid of, many people try and find excuses for not using it. Be honest here, too much trouble to empty the water, really?
