Taking mask off in my sleep

Taking mask off in my sleep
Hello!

I am new to the forum and am sure that someone has already asked this question, if only I could find it.. I have been using my ResMed AirSense 10 Autoset CPAP machine for about 6 months now. I have consistently been taking it off in my sleep without remembering. I can count on one hand the number of mornings that I have woken up with it still in place.

My CPAP is set on Autoramp and I haven't changed the pressure settings or anything like that from what my sleep therapist set them at initially, maybe I need to adjust something? I have been back to see her a few times and she hasn't been very helpful. Does anyone have any suggestions for me? Thanks in advance!

If you download SleepyHead and install it, then upload the data from your machine, you mayl be able to see what is going on around the time you remove the mask. It does a really nice job of displaying things.

You might try wearing some mittens so it isn't easy to unfasten the mask.

I've read suggestions that wearing a chinstrap over the mask will make it harder to remove. You need to train your brain to not do that.

RE: Taking mask off in my sleep
JulieB30,
Your profile is lacking information.
What pressure is you Apap set on?
Do you use the humidifier?

Something is making you uncomfortable to remove mask. It could be changing pressures, which some folk are sensitive to.

Are you using the EPR feature? This will help when you exhale.

Order the manual for your machine and start to take charge of your therapy by learning what you machine can do.

Next, download the free #SleepyHead software, and start looking at your data.

If your therapist isn't helpful, and you've been on cpap for six months, it's time to take control.

We can help you post some data here and take a look at your numbers. Smile

[split] [split] Taking mask off in my sleep
Hi Julie,

Is your mask comfortable? If it isn't, that may be causing you to unintentionally take it off at night. Otherwise, I would follow the advice about posting data in the hopes that maybe we can help you find clues that point to a possible reason for you doing this.
