RE: [split] Aerophagia
Yes, I had it badly when I first started CPAP therapy. After a couple of weeks they switched me to a BiPAP as a remedy.

It didn't help at first. It took a long time to subside.

There are different sleeping positions you can experiment with. The one that worked for me is sleeping with my chin tucked against my chest to pinch off the flow of air to the esophagus. This can be accomplished by sleeping on your back with an extra pillow behind your head, or simply tucking your chin against your chest while sleeping on your side.

The other recommended remedy is just the opposite. Use a wedge to keep your head and neck aligned so that the passge to your trachea is not pinched off.

I think the reason the first remedy worked for me is my anatomy. If I tuck my chin against my chest I find it difficult to swallow. Others I've talked to don't have this issue!

I used to but that side effect is fading.

Hang in there!

I had it really bad at first, then it faded over a few months and I don't have it at all now.

Hang in there, as your body gets used to the pressure this problem will probably resolve itself.
