Mask leaks still.
Hello all, my masks just leak halfway through the night. Obviously it's when machine goes to higher pressure, but I'm starting to think I lose fluid in my face due to water retention and then frequent potty trips. I started with Quattro now I just got an Airfit which seemed to leak worse last night. Am I going to have this problem with all masks? Mask liners didn't work for me either at least not with Quattro.

RE: Mask leaks still.
It is true that we all have a shift in water retention at night. Our faces do change size and shape to a small degree that can cause a mask that's OK when we retire to be loose later in the night. I think it's more of a positional thing: i.e. -- lying down.
I've had good luck with the Quattro; but that doesn't mean someone else will. I have my leaks under control even approaching 20 cm-H2O. Since leaks wake me -- I would just tighten the straps when it happens and check the seal. The seal on a mask like the quattro needs to curl inward. Often it blows outward when it leaks. Admin Note:

RE: Mask leaks still.
Are you adjusting while you're sitting up? If so, try it while you're reclining since the mask tends to tighten in this position. You stand a chance that overtighting the headgear is the cause of the leaks. Most current mask designs rely on air pressure to properly complete the seal and overtighting will defeat its purpose.
Good Luck!

Thanks for the advice Sgearhart, not sure this mask is for me at this point, but I just got it need to keep at it...oh and a BIG THANK YOU for helping me on sizing guide on other forum. I was thinking it was a sizing issue and couldn't figure out the template. |
