[Treatment] Koala1 - Moving to Resmed, aerophagia, please help with optimization
#11
RE: Koala1 - oscar data, first impressions
So I was using CPAP at minimal pressure 4 after 2 days of trials with 5.5.
It was fine, I have changed a mask which eliminated leaks but AHI went a little bit up to 3.5.
The reason might be CPAP machine itself. It was really noisy and AHI started to gradually rise together with noise.
I got another one and noise level is good. AHI aslo went down. I had 1.7 one day too!

To be honest I don't see much difference between 1.7 and 3.5. Maybe if I had more nights below 2 I could notice?..

Anyway I had really weird experience yesterday. Usually I don't have so many CA events (if any).
However yesterday when I was falling asleep my Wellue ring woke me up with low Spo2 alert.
Few times. And I actually was not breathing.
It resemble how I was falling in lucid dreams when I was a kid. It was starting with CA probably lol

The other thing is, for the first time yesterday I thought that CPAP is not delivering enough air.
I could inhale more, and I wanted to as I was taking deep breathes. CPAP was just stopping to deliver before I could finish breathe.
And before when I tried 5.5 pressure, there was too much air coming. Something changed? I got used to CPAP and this pressure?

I attached reports showing CA from yesterday.
Please tell me if those reports tell you something.

Anyone could comment on CA events, share their experience. Thoughts?

Their can show up episodically?
Or may it be CPAP induced?

Welcome, there are many knowledgeable people on this site that will help you. You got OSCAR up and running so we can see what is going on.

First you are using a dreamstation which just isn’t the best machine. The reason they gave you that one is it costs them less. You want to get a ResMed S10 autoset. Don’t accept any other ResMed. The Auto set is the best out of the Cpap machines out there.

I don’t know how importing a Cpap costs Tariffs and any other costs but Supplier #2 on the suppliers list at the top of the site is a great supplier that will ship world wide. They sell new, open box and slightly used. I have bought slightly used- one with less than a month and one less than a week.

As far as the dreamstation, you have a low setting of 4. That is the absolute lowest the machine can go and that is to low. It just does not give an adult enough air on inhale.

Move min to 7
Turn on flex to 2

Those 2 changes will help you breath easier AND help with the H events.

Koala1, when Gideon requested a 10 minute view, he wants to see the Daily Details screenshot zoomed to a 10-minute view where the flow waves are visible. You are printing reports using the full-night view which does not give us that detail. Please read the Organize Your Oscar Chart wiki linked in my signature.

Could you please check once more my last post with files 1,2,3?
While first chart shows whole nigh, the rest shows only period of few minutes when CA occurred.

koala1 - Please use the F12 key to obtain the daily screenshots.  It provides information on the left that helps when reviewing the graphs.

Thank you for your advice.

I have realised Philips may not be as good as Resmed. I had opportunity to compare both. At least when it comes to noise and Resmed clearly wins.

My hospital don’t offer Resmed so I would have to change, which I actually consider.
My doc is not really into helping me I guess, so I will go to another place specialising in apnea only. Hope they offer Resmed there.
Eventually I want to buy my own machine so definitely will consider supplier 2 as you suggest.
Just before that I want to use Resmed while it’s covered on my insurance so I can make sure it works well for me.

Two weeks into using the CPAP I tried to change to 5.5 pressure and it was too much.
I just couldn’t breathe in everything. My breathe is usually very shallow
Usually average pressure is around 4.5...
However there are some days when average pressure is around 6 or 6.5 so upping it a little could do only good.
I will try changing little by little and report in a week or two.
