System One Replacement?

System One Replacement?
Hey,

I’m in need of a new machine. I’m still using a ResMed that’s borrowed from my dad who stopped using his machine. I haven’t heard anything from Philips and I’m starting to think they aren’t going to contact me.

Has anyone using the SystemOne machines get a replacement?

RE: System One Replacement?
We have a number of threads concerning the recall and most if not all the replaced machines to date have been DreamStation 1 CPAP and APAP models. I have not heard of the PRS1 being replaced yet, but they are certainly on the recall list. Did you register?

RE: System One Replacement?
I have an older System One that I just keep for backup, and I did register it.
Also received a couple emails of acknowledgement. But in all honesty, I have no idea what Phillips plans to do about older cpaps.

I personally wouldn't wait around for them to do anything. Start planning for a replacement.
If you have insurance coverage, they should replace a machine of that age regardless of the recall.

@SleepRider thank you! I search and the big thread now is mostly talking about other things and I couldn’t find a post with that discussion.

@OpalRose at this point you are probably right. I’m fine with what I’m using right now, but by years end when the CDMA networks are going away I probably will want a new machine. Which is why I’m wondering if Philips is just going to do nothing with these machines or if maybe they emailed me and I missed it. I get millions of emails, most of them spam, so that’s the main reason I am looking to see if anyone knew.

Unless you have someone actively monitoring your data, you should not be too concerned about losing the CDMA cellular data link. If they want to see your data, it is on your SD card.

@LindenHotAir

I’m not really “concerned” as more I like having the app. The new AirSense 11, for instance, has both cellular connections and Bluetooth to avoid this issue in the future. So the new app they made will continue to work.

But my dad had his AirSense 10 for several years before stop using it. So I want to replace this unit with a newer one by the end of the year so I don’t have to worry about it breaking down. And since my wife is having a baby, our insurance deductible will be used by that in July/Aug. Which makes this the perfect year to get a new machine.

Congrats on your expected addition to the family. I imagine by mid-year some of the issues that have caused the supply of new machines to be in short supply should ease. It makes sense to try to get a replacement and retire your current device to backup. The machines are good for over 20,000 hours. Sounds like a good plan.
