Not when CPAP therapy is used to treat obstructive sleep apnea. As soon as you stop therapy the apneas return.

Gil was wondering if he still needs his machine. Along the same lines, I assumed I needed my machine but wondered how badly I needed it, like maybe I could get by with just a positional device. I used one and didn't use my machine but did use my overnight oximeter. My oxygen desaturation index level was 27.1. I don't think there's established, ODI level but it seems to correlate (perhaps coincidently) with the AH Index: less than five, good, etc. My DIY "sleep study" was just one night and n =1, but based on that, I won't be trading in my machine for a positional device.
I also did what others suggested regarding turning the pressure way down. I don't want to hijack Gil's post so I'll do my own post with the results and will be looking forward to comments on Flow Rate, etc.
