Uploading Sleepyhead Data...

Uploading Sleepyhead Data...
I have installed SleepyHead software & I am having issues uploading data from SD card (RESMED S9). I am really motivated to take control of my therapy (My provider changed & what use to be a $30 co-pay is now a $220 out of pocket expense)...
I know this is a technical question, but I really need this data to observe my AHI...
Sad

G'day Robert, welcome to the club.

I don't know how other people do it, but this is my process:

  1. First, it's important to know that the S9 doesn't store the detailed data for very long, so download it to your computer frequently.
  2. The information read by SleepyHead is in the DATALOG directory on the card. So I created a directory on my C: drive called SleepyHead Raw Data and in that created a subdirectory called DATALOG. I also created a directory called P-series. (I did it this way as I have been using both Resmed and Respironics machines and it's easy to keep the data together but in separate folders).
  3. Copy all the files from the DATALOG folder on your CD card to the corresponding folder on the C: drive.
  4. Go into SleepyHead and click on the Import icon. (Or select Import from the File menu).
  5. The "Import from where" dialog will come up. Select "New location" and navigate to the DATALOG directory.
  6. In future, at the "Import from where" dialog just click on "The usual" and SleepyHead will remember where the data is.

Hope this helps
Regards
Paul

Welcome Robert, you may want to update the model Resmed in your profile, it can be found next to the power button on your CPAP, I assume you have either an Elite or Autoset as the Escape is not data capable

Hi Robert Johnston and welcome
Have you tried ResScan but won't works with Mac computers

In the meantime, you can note down the data (AHI and leak) from the machine sleep report each day providing the S9 is not an Escape model. Escape model don,t tell a thing beside hours used

Thank you Paul for you prompt reply, I tried the work-around you suggested, but encountered a problem - The "DATALOG" folder on my SD card is empty!

When I start SleepyHead software & it recognizes the brand, model, serial number, etc.

Is there a "clinical setting" on my ResMed S9 Escape I need to be aware of that allows data logging?

I do have the "clinical manual"...

I just responded to another member regarding my issue & realized I do have the "Escape" mode. Might explain the problems I am having. But, when I visit the sleep clinic (used to anyway) they seemed to have a way to plot data.

If I have to, I will log this information - Thanks for the response!

This is the issue, S9 Escape don,t log anything other than hours used
Autoset and Elite model are data capable machines
See here specification for models comparisons http://www.resmed.com/us/products/s9_ser...nc=dealers

The only data your sleep clinic can get off your S9 Escape is usage data---i.e. how many hours you used the machine.

They undoubtedly looked at that usage data and told you about it as it if it were terribly important and was something you could not possibly know for yourself.

But the sad fact is, if you're using an S9 Escape, they have no more idea what your treated AHI is on a nightly basis than you do. Nor do they have any idea any idea if you are experiencing any leak problems that are serious enough to interfere with the quality of your therapy.

In other words, the only real measure of the efficacy your therapy they have is How well do you feel?

If things are going well, How well do you feel? is a perfectly good measure of efficacy.

But if you're having trouble with your therapy---if you are still not feeling well or if you are feeling WORSE than you did before starting CPAP therapy, then How well do you feel? is a lousy way of measuring the efficacy of your therapy because nobody knows what the real cause of your troubles is. It could be you've got leak problems. It could be your pressure is too low and too many obstructive events are getting through the defenses. Or it could be you're in the unlucky 10-15% of PAPers who develop problems with central apnea after starting PAP therapy and your current pressure setting is high enough to trigger clinically significant numbers of CAs.

I assume you,re in US and the sleep clinic were checking that the insurance requirement are met (something like using the machine at least 4 hours a day 70% of the time) so they can get paid
