Vibratory snore and hypopnea problems
#1
Have had way too many sleep studies with almost no help from any doctor. They just want to do the sleep study, take your money and run. My last sleep study I had to call and get my results, doctor never met with me so I decided to fix the problem myself.

Had problems with leaks, tried many different masks but went back to my original mask with a chin strap. I am a big mouth breather so a FFM is my only option. Had nose surgery but still don't breath well through my nose. Through my own experimenting my issues have been getting better while using sleepyhead to view my results every morning.

Got my AHI down to 1 or 2 but still have problems with vibratory snore and hypopnea issues. Both of those issues are waking me up after 3 or 4 hours of sleep. Anyone have any ideas on what I can do to improve both items? Last night my hypopnea was at 4.61 and vibratory snore was at 4.19. This was the highest my hypopnea has been in a while, pushed my AHI up to 4.61 (Usually close to 1)

First thing, you will need to find a way to control leaks. Do you use a chin strap? Even with a full face mask, some still find that they have to use a chin strap.

I know on my APAP, I had to raise my minimum pressure a bit to tackle those hypopneas and snores.

I'm not that familiar with BiPap settings, but I would think yours needs a bit of tweaking. What do you have the pressure support set to?

Give us some more info: Pressure support, 95% pressure reading and medium pressure reading,
Leak rate.

I'm sure that someone with more experience with BiPap setting will be along to help.

Welcome to the forum hammmitc!

When I was being monitored by the sleep doc while using my loaner machine he said he recommends upping the CPAP pressure 1.5 points to try to stop the snoring.

Hopefully you will get more answers from those using BiPAP so you can solve your problem. Good luck!
