Viewing Old Data Without Importing New data from an SD Card

Viewing Old Data Without Importing New data from an SD Card
Hello,

Is there a way to read data from OSCAR_DATA with out also importing any data from the SD card?   In other words, when I want to look at old data (imported in the past), the menus labeled "statistics, overview and daily" do not work until I import from the SD card?

Thankyou,

If you have imported the data in the past, it should still be there and should show up in OSCAR reports. Once you open your profile, all of the reports should be available. You do not have to import data every time you use OSCAR.

RE: Viewing Old Data Without Importing New data from an SD Card
Hello GuyScharf ,

My idea of the data flow Oscar is:

1) Open a profile.

2) Import the data on an SD card.

This creates a copy of the SD card in RAM.

It also creates populates the folder OSCAR_DATA with a tree of subfolders which are all empty.
I am not sure what this folder is for.

This causes the tabs: Daily, Overview, Statistics to go from greyed out to active status.

3) View the data through these three tabs.

4) Either do not print a report or not. If not, the data from the SD card data is lost.  If yes, the data is only in a visual form. so it cannot be used to input to OSCAR later.

5) So I assume, the  data repository is the SD car itself.

IS this right?

WHAT did you mean by: "Once you open your profile, all of the reports should be available"?

It would be great if you could shed some light on my confusion.

Thank you,

Before you can import the data, you have to create a profile. That is usually a one-time operation and you use the same profile each time you run OSCAR. The import process consists in part of copying data from the SD card to your hard drive, saving the data in the OSCAR_Data folder for your profile, as well as converting the data into data structures OSCAR uses (which are also written to disk).

So you can start Oscar, open your profile, and click on the Daily, Overview, and Statistics tabs to see the data you have imported on previous days.

Are you saying that when you start OSCAR and open your profile, the Daily, Overview, and Statistics tabs are not available? Or are grayed out? You're not using any of the Data/Advanced options to purge data, are you?

You can keep OSCAR from importing data on startup by turning off (unchecking) "Auto- Launch Importer" in the Import tab of Oscar's preferences. If you turn off the auto import you will need to go to the Welcome screen and choose "CPAP Importer" or choose "Import CPAP Card Data" from the File tab of the top menu when you want to import data.

You can also speed up the loading process slightly by turning off "Auto Launch All Summary Data", also in the Import tab of preferences.  Doing so could slow down some calculations later, however.
