Information Warning: Avoiding Scams
WARNING... WARNING... WARNING...

This "Commercial Posts" forum is supposed to be used by reputable individuals and companies, HOWEVER, since Apnea Board Admins cannot investigate everyone who posts here, you MUST exercise extreme CAUTION before you consider interacting with, doing business with, or responding to posts in this forum. Most people here are honest, but some are not.

Apnea Board is not responsible for any harm that may come to you because you did not investigate the validity of an advertiser here.

You can sidestep many would-be scammers by following these common-sense rules:

* DEAL WITH ESTABLISHED ENTITIES ONLY - be careful about doing business with someone who has no "online presence" (or a non-professional website), no phone number (or a phone number that cannot be confirmed as legitimate), or no established physical "brick & mortar" place of business.

* NEVER WIRE FUNDS VIA WESTERN UNION, MONEYGRAM or any other wire service - anyone who asks you to do so is probably a scammer.

* APNEA BOARD IS NOT INVOLVED IN ANY TRANSACTION, and does not handle payments, guarantee transactions, provide escrow services, or offer "buyer protection" or "seller certification"

* NEVER GIVE OUT FINANCIAL INFORMATION (bank account number, social security number, eBay/PayPal info, etc.) Remember, if you send a personal check to someone, they have your bank account number (it's on the bottom of your check).

If you suspect that an item posted for sale, or a service offered on Apnea Board may be part of a scam, please email the details to the forum Administrator

Recognizing scams

Most scams involve one or more of the following:

* Inquiry from someone in another country

* Western Union, Money Gram, cashier's check, money order, shipping, escrow service, or a "guarantee".

* Inability or refusal to provide basic information about their business history

BOTTOM LINE: Be careful and aware of the risks before responding to someone here.
