RE: Weird issues
Hi robotman,
WELCOME! to the forum.!
Hang in there for more answers to your questions and much success to you with your CPAP therapy. Try to learn as much as you can about your machine, it will help you along the way.

RE: Weird issues
I think the previous posts have addressed your first issue adequately. I use the same machine. I would bet your second issue is caused by mouth leak or swallowing air while you're asleep. A pressure adjustment may be in order for you, but you'll only know to do this if you analyze your patterns with the software as the others have suggested.

RE: Weird issues
Thanks for the welcome btw.

The screen says the pressure is 10-15. That's all I know. I don't own the machine yet, so I can't install new software on it.

It does not affect anything, might be a good idea to download the data from the SD card, so you'll have a permanent record on your computer

RE: Weird issues
Robotman, download Sleepyhead and install it on a PC or Mac computer: http://www.sleepfiles.com/SH2/

The program does not install, but is merely extracted to a folder. You then run it by executing either the Open or BrokenGL executable from that folder. With Sleepyhead running, it should be able to detect your SD card and extract the data. You will then see the history of your treatment and some pretty graphs.

RE: Weird issues
Ok, so I just came back from the doctor about the voice issue. She looked in my mouth and in my ears, didn't see any problem. It's annoying, it's like a whistling sound coming from my windpipe. I never had it before the cpap machine. Man, I hope something changes...

RE: Weird issues
SleepyHead does not install on the CPAP machine. It installs on your computer. It enables you to view the data from the card in the machine. It does not change nor remove the data on the card. It works similar to how you download images from your camera to your computer.

Just remember to put the card back into the machine each time you download the data. If the card is not in the machine when you use it, it will not record data.

On the one hand, you are concerned enough about the CPAP hurting your voice that you sought an online forum to ask advice.

But on the other hand, you won't touch the machine and you trust "the salesman" to do everything for you.

Those two hands need to meet in the middle. Grasp control over your own health. Or not. It is up to you. We can advise for hours but it is ultimately up to you.

One step is to view the data. In order to help you, we need to know primarily the leak rate. Some of us believe that you are mouth breathing at night.

Another step is for you to return to your sleep doc and voice your concerns there.

Actually, I've done that. I managed to get SleepyHead running even though I use Linux (via WINE). Here's the data:

Btw, it's not about "letting the salesman do everything". It's his machine, I haven't paid for it yet. It's a trial. And frankly, I'm not sure my sleep has improved.

RE: Weird issues
robotman,

I find that when I get the right amount of dryness in my mouth and throat, I get a little kind of whistling sound when I breathe. Drives me nuts. As soon as I re-moisturize everything with water, humidity, or Biotene, it goes away.

Best Regards,

PaytonA
