OK, thanks.  All the advice has been helpful.  Guess I will call Aetna tomorrow.  There are several DME's here, but not much to tell me which is best.  Hope the first CPAP/mask works great, and I live happily ever after.  Doubt it.

Focus on getting the best machine that’ll suit. Make a mini list of reasons. Have the doc prescribe exactly that machine per the mini list of reasons.

Then start preparing for DME machine pick up appointment so there’s no chance they’ll rip you off. ‘Cos they’re likely to try.

You can use web search such as Google to read DME reviews for those in your area. You can ask here as well.

Makes me wonder if "ripping off others" is a DME job descriptor, requirement, or otherwise preferred trait.

I'm not a doctor in real or fictional life. My posts include opinions based upon user experience regarding CPAP therapy and should not be considered medically professional direction or advice. Even a 1,000 mile trip requires a good first step. My recommended first steps include getting good walking shoes, 1 great cup of coffee, and a good GPS.

I am NOT a doctor.  I try to help, but do not take what I say as medical advice.

I am just a long term user of c.p.a.p. and therefore I have some experience in using these machines and equipment.

However, I am NOT an expert, so advice given should be taken as given in good faith only and NOT medical advice.

Every journey, however large or small starts with the first step.   Coffee
