What kind of sleep apnea do you have?

AHI reported: 0.95; easily treated at very beggining at two years ago. However, those were just the tip of the iceberg! Much more serious things were still to come: UARS and PLM's.

...but maybe daily recounted AHI could make a big difference to approach this question, particularly taking into account your how you feel index.

Good Luck

Moderate, AHI was 23.

The categories of mild, moderate, and severe are the kinds of things used by researchers so they can make classifications and do their research. Another example of this is BMI. They were intended to be used for statistical purposes. They were never intended to used to draw conclusions about any one individual, although they are definitely being used that way by a lot of people.

Tested March 2019: severe apnea, 36.3 AHI (detailed as 26.6 OAIs, 2.8 central, 3.1 complex, 3.8 HI at 3%); good blood oxygen level however; average Apneas 30 sec., average hypopnea 33 sec.; Suspected exacerbation in REM. Estimating 10-15 RERAs/night, . Still trying to find the magic formula while struggling with a very high median pressure of 20.4 cmH2O for the last 31 days; high number of event clusters not yet managed. Currently in the 7-10 AHI range.

RE: What kind of sleep apnea do you have?
I don't have my report any longer, it was back in 2006 when I had the study. It was a high AHI, over 45 per hour. I've been using the same CPAP since then. Recently (last week) I bought a new one that monitors my sleep. I've been feeling tired, and wanted to see what may be going on. First night, last night with the new Dream Station Pro, 7.1 hours of sleep, 100% mask seal, and 0 AHI. So I guess it's just me getting old and fat why I'm more tired...    Smile

RE: What kind of sleep apnea do you have?
Hi Trish: Had a sleep study 3 weeks ago and got my results last week. Apparently I've gone downhill a bit. I have to start using a Bi-level machine with a pressure setting of 16 on the inhale and 8 on the exhale. I've had a loner for a few nights and what a difference. I sleep better and don't wake up feeling I can't exhale.

Sleep Study May 2019 - Moderate, 17.1 AHI

Started treatment in July with results of AHI ranging from 1 to 13.

My clinic is using the AHI as the main data factor and not looking at my OSCAR data which shows a much different picture. Thanks to this forum though I am taking my treatment into my own control.

Sleep study was in November of 2017.  AHI was 59.6.  Really appreciate the forum and all the help and ideas that I've benefited from.  Thanks

RE: What kind of sleep apnea do you have?
In the early 90's when I was seeing an ear/nose/throat specialist for an inner ear problem (I was in my 40's) I brought him a tape of me sleeping. It showed me trying to suck air about 20 seconds out of every minute around the clock. so an AHI of about 60. This was before Apnea was a thing. I had horrible abscesses as a teen and had a lot of loose stuff in the back of my throat. I could put my uvula between my teeth if you can believe that. He operated and removed everything. I don't think cpap machines existed then (??) Today I have no uvula! I found immediate relief. No falling asleep in the shower in the morning. I could drive longer than 20 minutes, no acid reflux, etc. etc.

Jump ahead to about three years ago. My wife realized that I still tried to suck air at night to some extent. With all the newer revelations about extended health risks I videoed myself again. About 15ish times per hour. Of course horrible snoring with it. I purchased a new Phillips dreamstation on Amazon, learned how to set it up with the dreamwear nasal mask and after awhile I managed to adjust it so that my AHI averages about 0.6-1.5 episodes/hr. Of course thanks to a few of the people on this forum for getting it right after awhile.
