Uh-oh ... those guys are buyin' up all the inexpensive machines out there. Sad

I wonder whether CPAP machines would be good Xmas gifts ...

CPAP can fall under the "gift that keeps on giving" I think, probably better than a tie.

I am giving my old Remstar brick to one of my employees for Christmas. It got the job done until I found my S9 autoset. This guy is 2 hrs late for work everyday. He goes to bed as soon as he gets home from work. So in theory the guy gets 12-14 hrs of sleep. He has the face profile of an OSA patient. His Mom looks just like him and she has OSA. I figure it's worth a try to see if he obtains a better quality of life with it.

IMO it'll be better for him with than without therapy. My own experience was that, though unproven medically, I probably lived with undiagnosed and untreated apneas for about 25 years. It seemed that I could never get enough rest and was always late for work because of it. Apnea would have potentially been the underlying cause.

Dave, I lived with It undiagnosed since I was a young teenager. I couldn't sit through a lecture from Jr High all the way through college without falling asleep. I napped my life away for a lot of years. Having known about Apnea and how to treat it back in the early 80's would have probably changed my life dramatically.

This guy Justin that works for me doesn't have any insurance and always works 2-3 jobs at a time. Unfortunately I cant offer medical insurance to my employees due to the financial strain. It was more obtainable before the Affordable Health Care Act, but now the amount of revenue it takes to provide it doesn't allow for the guys to have a livable wage. Insurance is the Devil for the small businessman. I pay out enough every year to keep my mandatory business insurances in place to pay another employee for a year.

I really hope this CPAP machine helps his quality of life.

No matter the "what's" that you cannot do, but this ONE gesture that you can do, probably will be a life changer. Sincere kudos on that. And best wishes that it is that life changing event for him. And a kudos to you for stepping up to fill another's need.
