Why does SleepyHead leave a blank before you go to bed?

Ditto.
Not often at all...  maybe once every few months.  Could be anywhere from a few minutes to a couple of hours.  Doesn't seem related to going to bed before/after midnight, it just "happens"

Speaking of before/after midnight, ResMed's recent MyAir scoring revision does have a couple of "oddities"
They changed the scoring so that you don't get dinged a point if you remove the mask once (or twice?), BUT.. if you sleep past noon, it will show two mask apply/remove even if you did not have an extra one.

is there any chance that this is the "pre-heat" / "warmup" 'session'?

or in other words: do you have the warmup / pre-heat enabled ... and does this "ghost-session" go away if you disable that? (or is it not present if you cut the power during the day and only plug it in if you use it)

Not the case on mine or my wife's.

The times it's happened to us, we hadn't even been upstairs during that time (and no pets).
