Will a CPAP machine lower your AHI?

Will a CPAP machine lower your AHI?
My initial sleep study said I had an AHI of 10.1.

My follow up study (To determine mask) said I had an AHI of 2.6.

Been on my CPAP machine for 34 days and my AHI by Rescan is 0.4 and by Sleepyhead it is 0.54. Why they big difference?

Is CPAP therapy that good that it lowers it by that much?

RE: Will a CPAP machine lower your AHI?
You were diagnosed with mild sleep apnea. The follow up study, which is called a titration, is done to determine the optimal setting to treat your apnea.

The difference in the software reporting is minimal and may be due to rounding.

And yes, cpap therapy is that good, if your pressures are set correctly.

Please fill out your profile with machine and mask info, and the pressure that you are using, as this helps us answer your questions.

Yes, it is that good. Most people have reduced their AHI numbers from much higher that 10.1! That is why we keep strapping a hose to our faces each night.

Thanks for the replies. I'm impressed then with how much it lowered it.

I've gone from pre-CPAP AHI of 45 to post-CPAP of .3 to .5 AHI on most nights, rarely ever above 1. I'd say its more than that good. Its tremendous.
