TBlizz, please put the name and model number of your machine in your profile, then start a thread in the main forum asking this question. That way I'm sure you'll get some good answers.

Irregular heart beat
Hi I was just wondering have any one else experienced the irregular heart beat associated with their sleep apnea. I have had EKG & other test ran to check for heart trouble but the cardiologist says no arrhythmia. My sleep specialist say with treatment, everything will go back to normal. Scary!!!!!

Almost 20 years ago I was waking up in the middle of the night with my heart pounding. Everything checked out at the doctor's visit, including a normal EKG. Back then sleep apnea wasn't diagnosed as often as it is now. Just be glad you don't have to wait 20 years like I did!

TBlizz, I would be good if you can read up on what associated illness's sleep apnea causes, heart attack, high blood pressure etc so as Sleepster said you have in been lucky to have been diagnosed well before us, in my case have had to live with it for 48 years. Having said that the last two years have been the best two years of my life, my depression has lifted, I'm off all meds, my body is regenerating, my eye sight is getting better, hair is growing back and I feel great. I go to the gym everyday and walk 5 kilometres every night, 2 years ago I could hardly walk at all. Everybody is different but I think you will see some really good results. It's not easy, you have to use it every night for the rest of your life and may need to make some lifestyle changes I.e good sleep hygiene and a healthy diet. The palpations are from stress and anxiety that's why they don't pick them up on tests, treating sleep apnea will reduce your stress on your vital organs like your heart and should reduce if now get rid of the palpations.

Thanks for info. I don't know what I would do without this site and prayer. I'm staying positive in this & I just had a breast reduction last month on the 22nd so, I think that's playing a major role in my adjusting to C Pap also. It's kind of hard to lay on your side with stitches. I'm down 16lbs & still pushing for at least 30 more lbs

I see you have updated your machine, we use the same machine and mask.

I have been on my C Pap now for 13 days, I'm still very fatigue. I have to push myself to get off the couch to get a drink, shower, or anything. I haven't been out driving in over a week as I feel I'm not alert enough to get on the road. I had a breast reduction on the 22nd of last month, that may be a part of my fatigue also.

TBlizz, you need time to heal from both your surgery and sleep apnea. With SA, lots of people get a sudden burst of eneegy, the day after the second sleep study then the day after the first night of CPAP, this is because your body and brain has been so sleep and oxygen deprived for so long. Then it takes time to heal and everyone is different this is not an exact science. It can depend on age, how long you have been undiagnosed, how servere your SA is, all sorts of things. Your surgery on top of that won't help. Most people really start to feel the effects of the treatment between 3 - 6 months after starting treatment. You will get there if you keep a positive attitude and a bit of patience, I know it is difficult, we have all been in your position (Ok,ot the breast reduction) but know how you feel about the SA. I think you have to take positives out of the other successfully stories you read and you are just beginning your long journey.
