RE: Your Personal CPAP Success Story - Post Here
Thanks for the encouraging words & I'm definitely looking forward to the burst of energy that I had the 1st night of C Pap. I know it is a must for me to adjust to this to live as I have severe sleep apnea

TBlizz, please do, alot of this is also in our heads, the lack of oxygen to our brains makes our brains play tricks on us. Sometimes we need people that have been through it to make it a bit more clearer and give support and answer questions. Before long you'll be helping and supporting others in the same way.

I'm kind of new to C Pap. Is AHI of 1.93 good for 7.56 hrs of sleep?

Sometimes our machine count movement, coughing etc as apnea so the 1.93 is possibly actual a bit lower, the only way to get a true figure would be to have a sleep study everynight but it's a good guide. It is almost impossible to have an AHI of '0' some people get it occassionally and lots are in a low range. What you have to consider is what your AHI was at your first sleep study, so say it was 30 or you stop breathing on average 30 times an hour for more than 10 secs, now you are stopping breathing 1.93 times per hour on average and your CPAP kicks in and increase your pressure to open your airway. The 'normal' person can stop breathing up to 5 times per hour. When your ready you can download the Sleepyhead software or Rescan software and check out how you go each minute of each night and if you are getting any leaks. Hope that answers your question.
e excellent AHI
I am 18 days into C Pap and AHI have ranged from 1.97 - 3.98 & I switched mask Friday & woke up 10.5 hrs later with 0.8 AHI. My body is still saying more sleep though. Im praising God this morning! Hallelujah
By the way, I switched to the ResMed Mirage Quattro

Nice job, TBlizz! That's a lot better AHI than I'm usually able to get.

Well done TBlizz, it takes anywhere between 3 - 6 months for most people to get to some sort of normal state depending on a number of things, how long you have had sleep apnea, how servere it is, diet, exercise etc etc etc. We are all different.
If your body is saying more sleep you need to listen to it and if you need 10.5 hours of sleep or more thats fine. If you do, try not to have naps during the day so that you get into a good sleep routine at night and now just try to keep everything as consistent as possible so you can get somewhere near those figures everynight. |
