algorithm not working for me

algorithm not working for me
So the autotitration on PR One gave me a pressure of 7 but after a titration study, discovered that I actually need 16.  Switched to a Dreamstation bi-bap because of burping but it has become apparent that my machine isn't picking up what I'm "laying down" because I am still very tired, and it reports that I'm doing great :/  Better than without CPAP but it's definitely not working as I had hoped.  I am really frustrated at this point.  I am in the process of getting a sleep appliance but I don't expect that it will get me off CPAP because my body apparently likes to be difficult!

Has anybody had experience with this and had luck in finding a workaround?  I was OK with having a CPAP the rest of my life rather than doing surgery but I was assuming that it would work and I wouldn't be so tired anymore.

Also, because it is not reading me well, I am forced to sleep in one position all night because if I move, the machine doesn't recognize my need for a different pressure and I wake up burping.

Help!  TIA

RE: algorithm not working for me
Hi there and welcome to the forum!

The best thing would be if you get a couple more posts under your belt and then post the data from your machine using Sleepyhead software. Please see my signature lines below on how to do that. Until we see the data, it is very hard to accurately determine what may or may not be going on.

Also, keep in mind that when first starting out using a CPAP it is not a miracle cure to get rid of the sleep debt you have incurred over likely many years of not getting enough deep restful sleep. Also, you are still acclimatizing to the machine so all of this can take some time until you are feeling better. in fact, the improvements may be so gradual day to day that you hardly notice it. But improvements will happen given time, and providing your settings are ideal. There are many factors that ensure a deep restful sleep. CPAP/APAP machines can help with your Apneas but you need to make sure all of the other factors are aligning properly also to try to ensure a good nights rest for most nights.

Elocin, the Philips Auto CPAP is a bit slow at responding to events with pressure increases, so if your old machine was set to 4-20 and basically quit at 7.0 that is not a huge surprise. If you switched to a BiPAP we need to know which one and what settings you are using. We have worked with many members on the forum that have aerophagia at higher pressures, and there are some work arounds for that. We need to figure out where you are in your therapy and if there might be some room to implement some more comfortable options. Posting your data is the best way. Once you have 4 or more posts use the first 2 links in my signature to learn how to post your data.

Hi elocin71,
WELCOME! to the forum.!
When you are able to post some data, others will be able to advise you. Don't give up on CPAP therapy, just yet.
Hang in there for more responses to your post.
