HID is short for her inside. It's a British and Australian slang term for wife.

  1. High Intensity Discharge
  2. Human Interface Device

I first heard of the sayings after coming to Australia for a 6 month job in 1974. Seems like yesterday. Wink

From the British TV series Minder

her indoors (Britain) one's wife, especially a domineering one

Who said she who must be obeyed?
She Who Must Be Obeyed may refer to: fictional characters: the lead character of Henry Rider Haggard's 1886 novel She: A History of Adventure. Hilda Rumpole, the wife of Horace Rumpole of Rumpole of the Bailey (first broadcast in 1975)

I would go with "Her In Doors" in this context.

It's use is a little unwise these days as it could well lead to a smack in the face and possible loss of conjugal rights. Dielaughing

No offense to Australians, but things over there are sometimes seemingly "different". Of course, you probably think the same of us at times.

FWIW I read a recent crime article about an Australian's BMW parked at his house getting a speeding ticket a thousand miles from the guys home.
