RE: aromatherapy oils in cpap machine
I'm a new user. I understand that the filter in the air intake would negate the smell of any aromas. I use the nasal mask and breath strips...been using Breath Strips for years. I put a couple drops of oil on a very small piece of cotton and put it in the middle of the breath strip, then cover with another small piece of cotton so the oil is not touching my skin (Q-tip cotton is fine), and apply the strip to nice. It's great!!! Lasts all night. I did order some Lavender Breath Strips (I think this is a new item) and it was okay, but the aroma didn't seem to last for long.

The filters on most machines are a mesh of non-woven Polyester fiber. They are just to remove dust and other particulates but shouldn't remove any vapors.

No problem with using oils in my CPAP over 5 years now... NO issues at all. But must make sure they are therepudic grade oils as in Young living essential oils.

I can't help thinking just 'ewwww' . I looked into it when I first started cpappy therapy but could not get past breathing that stuff into my lungs. If it gunks up your tank and hose imagine what it would do to delicate lung tissue. just my humble opinion.

With the use of the Young Living Essential Oils I get full force of the smells. Some of the cheaper oils that may be the case. Sometimes I actually put too many drops in and I have to put more water in because it is so strong.

I do like the idea of eucalyptus... As putting oil into the humidifier seems universally considered a bad idea, I sprang for "CPAP Infusion Adapter For Essential Oils Universal Fit" (google it to find details). A bit expensive for what it is, but it works great.

I think I will stick with putting a few drops in the water tank. Don't need to spend $30 on something that I am already doing and it's not hurting anything.
It's so much easier!
