Going car camping. have resmed 9 escape with H5i humidifier.
have read using an inverter with extension cord would run machine. Would this run down the car battery? if so, has anyone used the Yeti 400 battery pack with this unit.
Thanks
JJ

RE: battery
Inverter is extremely inefficient (converts DC to AC power). You are better off getting a DC up-converter to 24 VDC and running directly on DC. I would not use my starting battery to run a CPAP if you don't have a backup plan for starting the car. Starting batteries are not intended for deep discharge and can be damaged this way. You need a deep cycle battery. There are many threads on this forum that have discussed battery setups. https://www.google.com/search?q=battery+...8&oe=utf-8

The Yeti 400 battery pack is a 35 Ahr, 12V AGM battery. With the up-converter mentioned by Sleeprider, it can power the CPAP for several nights; and can stand deep discharge.

You'll need a way to charge the battery. Direct connection to the automobile charging system won't work out because it's regulated for flooded lead-acid batteries. You could consider a solar panel.

"The Yeti 400 battery pack is a 35 Ahr, 12V AGM battery" elegantly packaged in a box that costs $460.

And still need the Resmed 12 to 24 V converter box.

Battery and charger around $100-120:
* Battery $60-80
* Deltran Battery Tender = $20 (.75 amp wall wart)-$40 (1.25 amp box)

Not considering an inverter, because we know nobody would use the AC due to extreme inefficiency and poor battery life. But if so, Figure $25 up to whatever you want to spend.

The "400" means you pay $400 extra for the "cool factor."

And, let us not forget cabling... It factors into the cost.
What are those connectors you use OMMOHY?

You're right. I didn't talk about cables. But I don't know that those need to be figured in - you are going to need cords even with the Goal Nada Bigfoot $460 power box. But if you wanna figure them in - Anderson powerpoles. They're pretty cheap - $0.84 price for connectors on each end of the wire. So, $1.68 + the cost of wire for each wire.

Now the cigar plug and the USB plugs, yeah those are fair game.

Specialty connectors for the cigar plug and the USB plugs extra if you go that way. Most of my applications, I just snip off the male cigar plugs off the Resmed/Respirionics converter cables/boxes and add a PowerPole connector in it's place, so for me, it's a non-issue. But PowerWerx sells the ready made female cigar lighter plug for $15 so that ought to be thrown in too. A ready made USB converter for $20. But there again, I can go to Tanner Electronics in Carrollton, TX for all the parts (small variable buck converter for a few dollars and an old USB cable for free out of the big box o' left over computer cables - maybe a dollar at Tanner's if not available for free in aforementioned Box o' Cables and I'm good to go for USB charging. A female cigar plug assembly for a couple of dollars - add a power pole connector for $0.84 and I'm done.) So I'm good to go for maybe another 8-12 dollars. Add $35 bucks if you buy ready made stuff.
