I sent a email asking why but I know it going to be some kinda ya ya ya BS reply. looks like I need to find a new DME that takes Medicare.
I have a medicare advantage plan with no deductible and initially they paid 100% of everything. The next year, we had to pay 20% of everything but that did not mean the retail price; it meant the allowed amount/contracted price for that DME. So, if the contracted price is $80 and you have to pay 20% then you owe $16 for machine rental (this is an example only). Medicare generally pays outright for the humidifier. Your supplies are additional as I am sure you know. So you should not be paying $102 for a machine rental per month even if you are out of network. Ask for an itemized statement of the charges.

Won't be $102/month. First month is higher because it includes humidifier chamber, etc, which isn't rented--you have to buy it straight out.
At least, that's what I had to do with Tricare (which operates on similar rules as Medicare).
RE: got my 1st bill today
The monthly is $21 my issue is the other mystery $60 that was tacked on to my bill
RE: got my 1st bill today
Medicare pays 80% of machine, supplies, etc. My machine is 21 bucks a month my part plus 20 % of supplies. That isnt 20% of what dme charges but if what medicare allows. In 13 mo machine is mine and 20 % of supplies are covered.

what else did you get other than the machine that made your part $102?
yea, humidifier is not rented but still shouldn't add up to $160. If that is what they plan to charge you monthly, take the machine back to them and go somewhere else.
I don't have a deductible for DME but straight medicare may. I dunno.
RE: got my 1st bill today
Well after waiting for a response to my email I called them directly. What I got was 20 mins of I don't know and numbers different from both my invoice and the bill! And a promise to call me back. Well that P*ssed me off even more so I went to another company told them what's going on and we are going to try to switch company's just don't want to give a dime more to the dishonest proformance home med.
