head cold
I have a scratchy throat, low fever, slight cough and lots of mucous. Should I continue to use my cpap? If so, would I be better off using the flexifit or hybrid mask? I have the resmed auto with heated humidifier and heated hose. I am already taking rx decongestants and qnasal. I am also using the neilmed rinse twice a day now that my cold is in full force

Yes, keep using your machine.

What happens is the air will push the crap in your nose out of the way. You'll sleep good. The humidity will also help.

Use the nasal rinse right before bed and right after.

Let us know how it goes for you.

Bummer you're sick right at the holidays.

I meant to add that good sleep is the best thing you can do when sick. Without your machine, you're going to add misery to an already miserable cold.

Thanks for the support. I have been using cpap since the end of August and this is my first head cold with cpap

If your prescription doesn't have an expectorant in it, you can take Guaifenesin and lots of water to help break-up the mucus and return to normal breathing. It really works.

When I have a cold with a cough, that's what I take in the morning.

Use whichever mask you normally use. The air won't push stuff out of the way immediately. There may be a short while where you don't feel any different.

Thank you for your advice yesterday. I was suprised that the full face mask worked as well as it did. Today, I have a fever and it hurts to swallow. I wonder if I would have felt worse without using cpap last night
