do preference settings affect all profiles in oscar or can each profile have different preference settings?

RE: preferences
I'm pretty sure each profile can have its own settings. It's a pretty easy thing to check - I'd do it now but I'm not at my real computer.

RE: preferences
thanks, I'll save you the trouble. I just checked and it looks like preferences can vary by profile. guess I could have checked first but maybe it's a useful bit of info for others.

RE: preferences
I have wondered why to have several profiles. Only if one computer uses several users and they all have own cpap machines.

RE: preferences
I used to have 2 profiles, one for apap and one for asv but I screwed up and inadvertently combined them...

in this case, it's at the request of the oscar team for troubleshooting possible oscar behavior problems.

The preference dialog sets both global and profile preferences.  Fonts, for example, are global and affect all profiles, while things like leak redline are set just for the currently active profile.

I think, but am not sure, that items on the General and Appearance page are global while the options on previous pages are for the profile.  I would expect there to be exceptions to that general rule.

RE: preferences
It turns out that reports may be cleaner if a user has multiple types of cpap machines (Autoset, Bipap, ASV) and has one profile for each type or manufacturer.
Of course, a computer with multiple users should have different accounts for each user... Big Grin - which will give different OSCAR directories for each user.
