RE: weight gain
I think one of the reasons for the weight gain is the feeling we have that we've encountered a severe problem (sleep apnea) and have gone through the transition of adapting to the CPAP therapy. We feel we've accomplished something monumental towards better health, and so can afford to slack off a little bit in the nutrition and exercise areas. In other words, speaking just for myself here, I had my head up my arse for the first three years of CPAP therapy.
