Z1 pressure setting - TerryJapan - 07-04-2015

I imported Z1 for my aunt in Japan who is presently using a large Japan made CPAP machin and wants a smaller unit for travel.

I need a pressure setting of Z1. Her preferred pressure is 5 or 6.
Z1 machine setting shows two pressures; the Device Pressure (Therapy Pressure) and the Baseline Pressure. What are they?

RE: Z1 pressure setting - zonk - 07-04-2015

I don't use the machine, check this thread regarding changing pressure on HDM Z1 cpap:

Also the clinical manual is available via email, section three (other manuals)

Hi Zonk,

Thank you for your response.
I saw these links and I also have the clinical manual. The manual explains how to set the Baseline Pressure and the Device (Therapy) Pressure, but they don't tell what is the Baseline Pressure and What is the Device (Therapy) Pressure.

Hi TerryJapan,
WELCOME! to the forum.!
Hang in there for more responses to your post and much success to you with helping your Aunt with her machine, and with her CPAP therapy.

Thank you everyone for the responses.
The terminology of the Baseline Pressure and the Device (Therapy Pressure) may be ZI own naming, but I guess there must be similar settings in other machines as well.

Do you set 2 sets of pressures on your machines?
Can I reasonably guess that the Device Pressure is for the one during inhale and the Baseline Pressure is for the one during exhale?

RE: Z1 pressure setting - under pressure - 07-06-2015

Terry,

On the standard Z1 CPAP there are three pressure settings:

1. Device Pressure Setting ....... Therapy Pressure

2. Ramp Pressure Setting

3. Z-Breathe Pressure Relief setting

The first one is the Normal Therapy pressure for the CPAP machine, ie, your prescribed pressure for Therapy

The second one is the Ramp pressure that you want the machine to start with if you are using the ramp feature, with this setting you'd also set the Ramp Time or number of minutes you want to have the Ramp feature to take before it reaches the Therapy setting.

And the third one is the pressure relief setting to make the exhale more comfortable........these settings are one (least relief). two (moderate relief) and three for most relief. The Z-Breathe feature is slightly different than on a Resmed or Resperonics machine in that it attempts to lessen the pressure spikes that are caused when the patient breathes in or out from the set Therapy setting.........although its somewhat different than the more common machines you can basically think of it in the same way from a comfort setting. The default is setting two, but most people especially males with larger lung capacity seem to feel that setting 3 on the Z-Breathe is the most comfortable.

I do not see the words "baseline" setting in the clinical manual or patient manual, but if I was to interpret I'd say the baseline you are referring to is the ramp pressure setting, which would be a lower ramp pressure if you are using the ramp feature where the machine would run at a lower than Therapy setting for a set period of time and then increase to your therapy setting over the period of minutes that you set for ramp.

The Z1 Clinical manual is available from Apnea Board .........see up above on this page the tab labeled CPAP setup manuals.
