Pilairo Q Mask - PaytonA - 08-27-2015
Thanks to all the information from forum members, I have ordered and just now received a F&P Pilairo Q nasal pillows mask. This is a definite change from my FFM which was the previous solution to my mouth leaking.
Received the Pilairo Q last night. Looked it over and tried it for a short time last night. Had a very hard time breathing with the mask and the VPAP hooked up and on. Decided to take more time and read the directions (oh no not that!!!).
When I pulled the mask out of the bag this morning and looked at it closely, I found that the headgear was installed at the factory upside down. Consequently, when I put it on, it was upside down because I used the headgear as my guide.
I corrected that problem and tried it out this morning right side up. I am very impressed with how it seals. I had a tech at the sleep lab try a nasal pillows mask on me several years ago and he could not get it to quit leaking at my pressure. The Pilairo Q seals quite nicely and feels comfortable. The interaction of my breathing with my VPAP's operation feels quite a bit different than with my FFM. The larger dead air space of the FFM probably absorbs more pressure pulses and the like.
The next problem is going to be battling mouth leaking. I was fairly encouraged during my short trial because I made the seal without really thinking about it and kept it without thinking about it. l do have a chinstrap ordered just in case but I think that I may try the Pilairo Q without a chin strap tonight.
I really like the design of this mask. Someone seems to have put a lot of thought into this. Will report back later as well as writing a review.

...This is the worst of the worst catastrophes in the world. Oh, the humanity! I'm gonna have to stop for a minute because I've lost my voice. This is the worst thing I've ever witnessed. A defector from the Mirage Quattro!

Glad you are happy with your new mask!
I have a PilaroQ also. I really like it, but like my P10 better.
Let us know when you switch to the P10.
