AirSense 10 AutoSet Auto Ramp after waking? - daveasu - 09-03-2015
Hello all - I have an AirSense 10 AutoSet and really like the auto-ramp feature. I'm just wondering if I have a setting wrong though. When I wake up at night, the machine does not revert back to the very low pressure - it just stays at the continuous pressure until I turn the machine off. Doing that reactivates the auto-ramp. Have I done something wrong?

The machine detect sleep onset and increase pressure slowly to treatment pressure, if no sleep onset detected, pressure increase from the low start pressure to treatment pressure within 30 minutes. There is no benefit or treatment at the low start pressure, some find it helpful getting acclimatized with the treatment

I found auto ramp to be very annoying. I turned it off and just run full pressure.

If you find that the ramp feature is getting in your way, you can either decrease the time or turn it off completely.

It's working exactly as designed. I have trouble relaxing and falling asleep with the pressure at min therapy pressure. The ramp feature keeps the pressure lower when the machine is first turned on, not when I am awake. Of course I am awake when I turn the machine on, but if I wake up during the night the ramp does not reset unless I also cycle the machine power.
Being at pressure is not therapeutic in itself. If you are at pressure AND this prevents an apnea, ONLY then was the pressure therapeutic. SO if I am at low pressure when I first turn the machine on AND there are no apnea events during the ramp time this has ZERO effect on my therapy. IIRC my machine will respond to an apnea during ramp, but I have never had one that soon into the night.

They have not designed the software to detect an arousal and reduce pressure to the ramp level. Once you complete ramp, it is over unless manually reset by pressing the ramp button. Your choice.

SensAwake
There is a debate on both sides, whether such feature is necessary or useful
