New to Forum but not CPAP - teagranny - 11-05-2015

Hi all: I'll try to keep it short. I've been using CPAP since 2004 but not very successfully as I could not find a mask to suit, (tried many) that didn't leak or irritate me in some way, so I only managed a maximum 4 hours a night. Eventually I gave up on it but serious complaints from hubby led me to go back to the sleep clinic.

I now have a new CPAP airsense and a new nasal mask Airfit P10 which I am happy to say is much more successful giving me an average of around 7 hours per night. (the technician had not seen a machine as old as mine Smile )

However, I find that I am more tired than I ever was and am having a problem staying awake in the afternoons. I am a senior but I do notice a difference and not for the better. I don't see any point in going back to the sleep clinic as they confirmed my pressure should stay at 7. I was wondering if I should try to up it myself to 8 as an experiment but have no clue how to go about that, without going into Medigas, but I believe they need a script for that.

many thanks

Go to this link to get the clinicians manual for your machine.

Quick setup guide for your machine:

http://www.apneaboard.com/resmed-airsense-10-aircurve-10-setup-info

Your machine records a lot of information about your treatment including mask leak and AHI (apnea events per hour average). We recommend if you're thinking of changing your settings that you get SleepyHead software set up on your computer so that you can watch the data and use it to decide on the best way to adjust the settings. We can help with that.

Meantime, what is your AHI while using the machine? The information is accessible on your machine's display screen -- if you don't see it there, access it from the clinical menu.
