Long period with no data - Winterfrost - 02-12-2016

Any idea what happened here? A fairly long period where it wasn't recording data. Thinking-about

I can't explain the dropout in the flow and events, but there was pressure data. I've never see this.

On another note, I don't think your 4.0 minimum pressure serves you well. From what I see a minimum of 6.5 is a little closer to your needs. Your leak rate steadily increased leading up to the data gap, and I thought that might have something to do with the data loss, but probably not. It looks like a mouth leak, but if not, switch to the next size larger nasal pillow.

Thanks. I'm still learning how to adjust the machine. Last night, actually, was the first night where I changed any settings. I began the night with min 6.0 and max 16.0. I fell asleep, but woke up again with it blowing very hard. I lowered the minimum back to 4 and that seemed to work. I've never seen data like last night's -- not only the long gap, but also the abrupt climb around 1:15 (I guess 1:20 was when I turned it off and reset the minimum).

Why does the leak rate show an upper and a lower line?

It looks like I had one really good section though, from 12:20 to 1:00. No events, not even snoring. Except for flow limitations. Are those anything to be concerned about?

On a Respironics machine, the total leak rate is the top line, and includes intentional mask leak and air leaks from the system. The bottom line is the net air leakage after accounting for intentional mask venting. In a leak-free night, the bottom leak line will stay near the bottom of the graph. When you see it rise and stay elevated, that is leakage beyond what would be desirable.

You might want to cap the maximum pressure until you get used to the CPAP. From what I see, your sleep is disrupted when pressure exceeds 12 cm. I think you may need to allow pressure to go higher eventually, but for now, I'd set the maximum at 12 and accept a few more events in lieu of the discomfort and disruption of higher pressure. I would move the minimum pressure back up to 6.0.

What was your AHI?

The APAP responds to FL and snores, and will raise pressure in anticipation of an apnea event.
You will not be able to control the FL and snores by keeping your start pressure at 4.

Raise the start pressure to 7 and lower the max pressure down to 12 or 13. You can also use the AFlex setting to help with breathing out toward pressure. I would set it to 2.

Thanks! Makes sense. On other nights when pressure got up around 15 or 16, I'd wake, either from mask leaks (air blowing in eyes), noise, or whatever. I'd also start having CA events. I've noticed, though, that it's the snoring that seems to bump up the pressure. It seems to be mostly the snoring that's triggering the increases in pressure.

Thanks! Good ideas, I'll try them. My AHI last night was 1.6 I believe. Actually pretty good, but then again there's 1.5 hrs unaccounted for. Maybe there were events during that period that didn't get counted.

Yes, that one time period is really strange. I don't think I've ever seen that.
