S9 vpap asv defect? stops blowing for 0.5 sec and resumes - lv3101 - 05-03-2016

Every few weeks my resmed s9 vpap asv has episodes of abnormal interruptions of the blowing process, which first wakes me up and then does not allow me to fall asleep.

It goes through a repeated cycle of “stop blowing for 0.5 sec, resume blowing, stop blowing for 0.5 sec, etc” for about 20 min.

After power off/on (sometimes have to repeat the power off/on a few times) s9 starts blowing normally (without the interruptions) and continues for a few weeks until another abnormal episode.

Does anybody have an explanation or a similar experience?

I appreciate your comments.

I have no idea what might be going on with your machine. But if it were mine, I'd take it back to the DME and see if I could recreate the problem for them. If it needs to be serviced, the DME should be able to provide you with a loaner machine until yours can be repaired.

The DME (I keep hoping some are really good) may have seen this before and know what it is.

Some are really good. Mine is one that I think is really good. But it is a (very) small chain that specialized in PAP and nothing else. And I do worry sometimes about its long-term financials.

The only test my DME wanted me to do is to try my S9 without the data card as he thought when data card gets full the machine might stotter. However I already tried this test without any change in blowing behaviour.

Therefore my DME suggest a replacement machine AirCurve 10 ASV (currently I have S9 ASV 36037A).

Between S9 ASV model 36067 or AirCurve 10 ASV which model would you recommend?

I read comments on this forum that there are no differences in the ASV auto algorithm between S9 ASV and A10 and that 36067 is better than 36037?

your DME is .... wrong. the S9 data card will *NEVER* fill up, the high rate data is deleted after 7 days and the detailed data after 30, and the rest after one year...

also, interestingly, searching for a resmed 36067 on google, and excluding results from apneaboard (mostly hits on one person's profile) doesn't turn up any hits on a 36067 that I can find (except one other that looks like it might be a typo). *ponder*

I use the AirCurve 10 ASV. It works very well.

that does sound like odd behavior for an s9 adapt. i can confuse the s9 adapt sometimes during sleep wake junk and it seems to pause a touch, but not when sleeping that i have ever noticed and certainly not to the point of waking me up. it may be time for a new machine or to try a back up machine if you have one for comparison purposes.

i suspect the code for the s9 adapt blower is just 36037 (or maybe 36037A). the codes for 36047 (+H5i) and 36057 (+H5i + climate line) may simply be combo order codes from resmed, but the blower may just be a 36037.
