New to forum - Huge AHI numbers! - BigMike - 05-13-2016

Greetings all.

First of all, I'd like to thank each of you for providing information to this community.

Secondly, I'm requesting information and feedback about my numbers please.

I use the ResMed S9 and my AHI numbers are, as the title of the thread states, HUGE!

For example, last night my numbers were:

AHI = 62.85
OA = 35.12
H = 2.98
CA = 24.7

I'm using Sleepyhead and my AHI is conistently high compared to what I read here on the forum. Highest this month was 82.07.

Please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong. Thanks in advance.

Yikes! But, before we tell you to head to the hospital and an oxygen bottle, a little more info.
1) How long have you been on Pap?
2) Do you know what your sleep test numbers were?
3) What numbers is the machine indicating vs. the software?
4) are you on straight C-Pap or auto, and if straight, is the machine auto capable?
5) What led you to getting a sleep test, and how long have you had symptoms of sleep apnea before getting treatment?
There are better people than I that will chime in, but those are some of the things they will be asking.
6) Has your Dr. or the DME tech been made aware, and said anything?
7) where are you located and what kind of health coverage (just to help us in directing you to resources).

1a. I've been using the same pap machine for almost 3 years.
2a. I just had a 2nd sleep study a few weeks ago. No changes were recommended.
3a. I will check the machine numbers.
4a. Not really sure if the ResMed S9 is auto-capable (Update: ResMed S9 VPAP Auto (36006)).
5a. I had not slept more than a couple hours at a time nightly for several years prior to the study. I was a smoker for 30 years, but quit 5-6 years ago.
6a. I spoke to my doctor after the most recent study, but he did not recommend any changes. Not sure what a DME tech is.
7a. I'm in NC and have pretty good health insurance.

Thanks for the reply Smile

DME tech is a person at a place that dispenses machines and supplies.
(DME = Durable Medical Equipment.)

Can you get the specific name of your S9 from just above the ring around the start switch?
Might say: CPAP, Autoset, VPAP Auto, VPAP S, Elite, Adapt ....

Can you attach a screenshot from sleephead: graph plus summary. You are limited to a 200 kB image as a new member.

Your questions have led me to look more closely at my history. The numbers below illustrate
a serious increase in my AHI since June of last year. However, I'm not sure what could be causing this. I haven't changed
mask type for quite a while now and have the same machine.

Last night
62.85

June 2015
5.13

In January 2016, my AHI was 2.31. However, in Febuary 2016 the AHI jumped to 24.54 and increased steadily each month.

@justMongo - I will check my machine when I get home, but I'm fairly sure it says "Elite".

Again, thanks for all of your interest.
