Too Low or Not Too Low - SeizetheZZZZs - 06-24-2016

I am enjoying the Forum as a newbie that started treatment only 7 days ago. I have a full face Resmed Airfit F10 and the mask setting seems to hover around 5 way too much for me with lower air pressure. It is an auto dream station machine so it rises when needed but I was wondering if this starting pressure is common and I should get used to it, or check in with my technician so soon?

too low is too low. If you are uncomfortable and feel starved for air, then ask it to be increased. They should be able to do it remotely

I need to be above 6

Hi SeizetheZzzzs,
Welcome to Apnea Board!
Once you download SleepyHead software and share some information with us on your AHI readings,
Medium and 95% pressure readings, and leak rate just to start, then we can take a look and advise.

A minimum pressure of 5 may be too low. Do you feel starved for air?
Usually a minimum pressure of 6 is much more comfortable.

There are comfort settings you can use. One would be to use the Flex setting on your DreamStation. This will lower pressure slightly when exhaling.

Have your ordered the Clinicians manual?

I notice that you list ResScan under software. ResScan only supports ResMed machines. You have a Respironics Apap.

What do you mean by "mask setting"? Is this something unique to the DreamStation?

zzzzzz. I am not sure just what you are referring to with your remark about the mask setting hovering around 5. There is a setting that you can set inside the Dream Station if you are using certain "Respironic" masks, but you are using a ResMed mask, so there is no settings available for your ResMed Airfit F10.. Your machine pressures of 5 to 10 is a prescription order written by your sleep specialist. Those pressures were derived at by the sleep Physician analyzing the data from your sleep study. Your starting pressure of 5 is pretty low and "may" cause some claustrophobia concerns. The pressure of 5 is not much more then our own normal inhalation. With only 7 days under the mask, I'm sure you have hundreds of unanswered questions. Much adjustment is in your future. You'll feel better for it in the long run.. Stay glued to this forum and you will learn tons.
