Hi emu bob,

Sorry you are experiencing that.

Are you limited to a full face mask due to being a mouth breather? Because if you are not, I would try a nasal/nasal pillow mask to as they are alot less confining.

Other issues to consider if you have to stay with a full face mask

1. You are tightening the Simplus too much leading to the claustrophobia feeling. Google Simplus Mask Fitting Guide to make sure you are fitting it correctly.

2. If you have tried all the steps to fit it correctly to no avail, then you would need to try another full face mask. Seller number 1 provides great reviews and lets you filter masks that help with claustrophobia. That could be helpful.

Finally, if you find you continue to have the feelings of claustrophobia with a mask no matter what you try, you might want to practice using your machine during the day while engaging in some favorite activity. It is a great way to to desensitize yourself towards using the mask.

Best of luck.

I woke up like being waterboarded then i went to nasal mask

Had too many leaks (28 to 40) so now i went to full again. increased pressure
12 to 13.8

now ahi is high. but i do not have any feelings of claustrophobia

suggestion- increase pressure all the way to 20 or just higher

Pressure should not be increased based on leaks. Download your data from #sleepyhead and we can advise.

i had a similar problem (maybe not as bad), tried nasal pillows which i really liked but during the night i was opening my mouth (headband was a pain).

switched to the amara view and problem solved, best mask i have used so far.
just goes to the tip of your nose, does not feel like ffm

I would not be using a cpap at all if I had to use a full face mask. I only have claustrophobia with masks - couldn't do diving because of it. Had a panic attack in the ambulance 20 years ago when they put a mask on me (they took it off). I don't know why I have this problem. My suggestion is to get a nasal mask or pillow mask and a chin strap and see if that will work for you.
