Hi Newbee question - 420benz - 09-30-2016
Wife has a ResMed s9 with humidifier. It is not very noisy at first but after a few hours it will wake me up with a constant loud sound of air.without waking her up i checked to see where the sound is coming from and it is not from thr mask but from the machine itself. I replaced the hose but that did not solve the problem.Need Help Thanks

There may be a leak around the humidifier tank. Contact your DME supplier about a replacement tank. Replacements tanks are also available online.

First, check the gasket in the lid of the H5i humidifier. They are removable for cleaning; and may be out of position.
I doubt it's the water tank -- unless the top of the tank is actually cracked or broken -- which would be visible.
Also check to make sure all the black tabs in the hinged lid are there; as they can break if treated roughly.
Last, make sure the lid latches.
One more place to check. When the tank is inserted in the H5i, there is the Outlet hole in the back side of the tank. It's meant to seal against a rubber gasket where the output hose fitting is located. It may be loose, damaged or even lost. You should feel some resistance at the rear of the tank when inserting the tank as it's a friction fit.
The lid, lid seal and outlet fitting are available for replacement.

OK Cleaned all of the parts and gaskets on the humidifier.Now about the settings.If the settings were off would tat cause this problem?

Could it be that the pressure is increased to her mask and you just hear the machine making more air? I believe my machine itself is louder during times of increased mask pressure.
